Optical Hardware Validation Engineer
Job Summary
The Electrical / Optical Hardware Validation Engineer is responsible for conducting electrical and optical performance testing/validation of various optoelectronic package assemblies for lasers, VSCELs, EML, DFB, Silicon Photonics transceiver modules. NRZ, PAM4 Optical Signaling validation Development of Hardware Qualification Process for current and future technologies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Developing and conducting test plans for optical network components and modules, such as high-speed Optical Transceivers, DWDM/WDM Filters, and Optical Amplifiers.
- Studying various aspects of both existing and potential future optical components including fibers to select right technique(s) suitable for modeling nonlinear propagation of optical signals with advanced modulation formats, evaluating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), optical SNR (OSNR), bit-error-rate (BER), Q-factor, OSNR penalty and Q-penalty of the transmission system, and giving mitigation and components improvement recommendation on optical impairments (including filtering, chromatic dispersion, PMD, PDL, crosstalk, nonlinearities, etc.).
- Developing and maintaining optical transmission system testing bed in full characterization of optical components and modules as well as system performance measurement for optimization direction
- Developing system design rules, link-level optical line system control algorithm, and other innovative ideas for communication systems improvements, as well as directions for optical components/modules, further technology development.
- Participating in development projects in system engineer role from conceptual, development and full NPI
- Define test strategies to measure laser and laser sub-system performance parameters and evaluate results.
- Work with optical component vendors for component definition, and to complete performance and reliability evaluation.
- Aid in the development of the global hardware qualification process with regards to specification standards, equipment needed to validate and test methodology
- Ensure Hardware Qualification Priorities are process in an accurate and timely manner.
- Contribute to the design of new innovative products.
- Analyze and document data generated to communicate results for design team review.
- Work closely with global engineering team to support shared company goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications and Experience:
· BS or MS in physics, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
· Six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Knowledge of basic electronic circuitry
· Aware of MSA and SFF Standards as related to Optical Transceiver Products
· Experience with Optical Signaling Methods, NRZ, PAM4 and Coherent
· Experience with equipment used in electro-optic testing such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, supplies, polarimeter, TECs (Thermo-Electric Coolers) & controllers.
Working knowledge on various instruments like bit error rate tester, network traffic analyzer, digital communication analyzer, real time oscilloscope, and optical spectrum analyzer. MultiLane, Keysight or Others
· Experience handling single mode, multimode fiber, and their associated connectors
· Good planning and organizational skills
· Team player with excellent verbal & written communications skills including the ability to work effectively across teams at multiple international sites.

Pay Transparency: The starting annual salary for this opportunity ranges from $120,000-$180,000. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance. Company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including medical, dental and vision insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
