Site Reliability Engineer (Mid level)

Optomi, in partnership with a financial services client, is seeking a SRE for their Baltimore, MD location. The role will help assess gaps and instrument monitoring solutions where needed. This team member will leverage existing monitoring products to deliver a reliable and resilient eco-system and will work closely with application developers, incident management, and infrastructure teams to execute and deliver best practices of SRE. The role will require cross-functional coordination and will focus on the entire end-to-end customer experience to reduce/prevent negative customer impacts, save revenue, reduce cost and improve customer satisfaction. The Ideal candidate will have engineering experience and drive to improve existing systems and processes with creativity to develop innovative solutions to evolving challenges. The ultimate goal is to improve availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users.


Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

  • Participate in complex projects and design new implementations as required to support new business initiatives.
  • Ensure every step of a new transaction has proper logging to provide accurate reporting.
  • Define strategies for Application Performance Monitoring.
  • Ability to isolate problems between hardware and software. Working with appropriate team(s) and vendors until a resolution has been reached.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through monitoring, logging and alerting.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
  • Participate in complex projects and design new implementations as required to support new business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementation.
  • Aid in the building of every step of new transaction has proper logging to provide accurate reporting.
  • Leverage existing tools when possible as the central alert hub and ensure proper enrichment is happening when alerts are received.
  • Ensure proper alert thresholds are maintained.


Qualifications of the Right Candidate:

  • Should have 3+ years of experience with the following tools: Grafana, Elastic
  • One of the following AOM tools (AppDynamics, Data Dog, Opsramp)
  • Experience with distributed cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure and OpenShift
  • Containerization Software- Kubernetes, Docker
  • Knowledge in emerging technologies – Open telemetry, Serverless monitoring
  • Automation experience – Terraform, Ansible, Ansible Tower
