About the Role
The Company is in search of a General Counsel with a strong legal background and strategic thinking to manage complex regulatory and business matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and interpreting laws and regulations in the alcohol, cannabis, flavor, and fragrance industries, and developing compliance programs to ensure adherence. This role involves providing legal advisory to the executive team, particularly on business initiatives, contracts, and transactions, as well as overseeing contract management, risk management, and intellectual property protection. The General Counsel will also be involved in corporate governance, employment law, policy development, and training, and will play a key role in strategic planning and dispute resolution.Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, an active license to practice law, and a minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a corporate legal department or law firm specializing in regulated industries. Expertise in the relevant laws and regulations is essential, as is a proven track record in contract negotiation, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage and mentor legal staff, and excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Preferred qualifications include experience as an in-house counsel in the flavor and fragrance industry, familiarity with international regulations, and a background in intellectual property law and management.
