Location: Bolingbrook, Illinois (onsite)

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team within a manufacturing environment focused on continuous improvement, quality, safety, and efficiency. As a key player in our operations, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and mentorship to a talented engineering team while overseeing design, project management, and CAD engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage engineering activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide and develop engineering personnel, fostering a culture of high performance and growth.
  • Oversee design and project engineering activities, ensuring the implementation and adherence to engineering standards, goals, and timelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and functional managers to meet business objectives and exceed customer commitments.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives using the Crane Business System, including enhancing workflows, standard work, and visual management.
  • Optimize capacity planning to meet both short-term and long-term business needs while ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for engineering and process issues, contributing to ongoing process improvement.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring that financial goals are met while supporting operational targets.
  • Collaborate weekly with the India Design Center, ensuring alignment and efficient resource management across regions.
  • Maintain and improve visual management systems, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of the organization.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited) or equivalent.
  • Experience as an engineer, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, including single-piece flow, value stream mapping, 5S, and SMED.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with a focus on innovative solutions and cost-effective strategies.
  • Experience with pressure vessels and valve design (gate, globe, check, butterfly, ball, and plug valves) preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials, and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with Section III of the ASME B&PV Code as it applies to valve design. Current participation in Code activities a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear or aerospace is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) is required.
