A health services agency in New York City is currently seeking a new Paralegal to join their growing Legal team in Queens.
About the Opportunity:

- Hours: 9am to 5pm or 8:30am to 4:30pm (1 hour lunch break(

Responsibilities:
- Processes contracts and leases by reviewing, summarizing highlights, checking budgets and ensuring appropriate execution and distribution.
- Prepares legal documents for attorney's approval by drafting correspondence, proofreading; maintaining document control system.
- Manages, coordinates and responds to requests from outside counsel for records, documents, access to staff.
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of litigation including, but not limited to: securing and managing files and documents; coordinating and with staff, clients, law firms and courts; schedule meetings: expediting paper flow; maintain schedules and deadline, implementing litigation holds, processing settlement documents and payments.
- Compiles evidence and supporting information by searching records, documents, databases, etc.
- Compiles and drafts report on status of litigation, contracts and leases
- Responds to subpoenas and requests for information by retrieving records and documents, ensuring proper authorizations are secured and appropriately releasing documents.
- Requests authorization to release documents from government funders.
- Reports claims and lawsuits to insurance brokers and insurance providers
- Reviews incident reports and notifies General Counsel of significant incidents. Follows up with requests for additional information when needed.
- Maintains litigation, lease and contracts databases and logs by organizing document control, designing retrieval systems summarizing, coding and storing documents, updating system and logs.
- Manages paper and e-files and documents; coordinates
- Researches statutes and regulations and case law
- Monitors changes to government guidelines or regulations and keeps General Counsel aware of them.
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree and in Paralegal Studies.
- At Two (2) least years of prior Paralegal experience.
- Excellent organizational skills Possession of excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and electronic database management
- Good interpersonal and analytical skills
- Adhere to recognized ethical standards and rules of professional responsibility
- Ability to deal with complex information and situations
- Some local travel required.
- Ability to work in a Team environment and independently.
- Must be able to take initiative with minimum supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential matters and exercise discretion.
- Comfortable with routinely shifting demands to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor Degree.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Confidentiality laws a plus.
