A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, you'll play a critical role in planning, executing, and completing multi-disciplinary engineering projects. Your contributions will ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and meet or exceed all quality standards. By collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you'll help turn ideas into tangible, successful outcomes.


Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with project managers to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
  • Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Leading a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure high-quality outputs
  • Monitoring project progress, troubleshooting challenges, and implementing effective solutions
  • Preparing and presenting regular project status updates to clients and stakeholders
  • Applying engineering principles to develop design drawings, specifications, and calculations
  • Conducting site visits to assess conditions and validate design feasibility
  • Staying current with industry standards, codes, and new technologies
  • Ensuring all design documents meet required standards and client specifications
  • Building strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of project engineering experience, ideally within an EPC or engineering design firm
  • Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Civil 3D
  • Solid understanding of engineering design principles, codes, and standards
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel (~25%) for business needs
  • Ability to work in the office 80-90% of the time, with some remote flexibility
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
