Job Description
POLITICO is seeking an enterprising and energetic editor to guide coverage of the White House.

The editor will lead a team covering one of Washington's most challenging and exciting beats - the White House - just as one president finishes his term and a newly-elected president prepares to take office.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive a competitive, lively and high-impact coverage agenda surrounding the key decisionmakers and dynamics in the West Wing.
  • Work closely with POLITICO's policy teams to offer our readers superior coverage of the intersection of policy and politics.
  • Partner with editors across the newsroom, including Congress and national security, to generate story ideas and coordinate coverage.
  • Assign and edit a mix of breaking news, quick-turn enterprise, daily newsletter and longer-term deep dives across all our digital platforms.
  • Manage and coach reporters.

What You'll Need:

  • Excellent news judgment with a track record of strong storytelling and editing.
  • Proven ability to handle a demanding job in a fast-paced newsroom.
  • Superior organizational skills and a rigorous commitment to fair-minded, nonpartisan journalism
  • Experience editing or reporting on the White House
