Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for an on-call Respiratory Therapist to join our team.
Responsibilities Shriners Children's Portland has a great opportunity for an on-call Respiratory Therapist to join our team! Respiratory therapy responsibilities include the diagnostic evaluation, management, education, rehabilitation and care of patients with needs related to the cardiopulmonary system. Provides support and services to other departments with patient care needs. Maintains competency with all respiratory therapy procedures and equipment. Promotes quality patient care in a safe work environment. Maintains effective communication will all levels of hospital personnel.
Administers respiratory care and life support to patients with abnormalities and deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system by prescription and under the supervision of a physician.
Duties include:
Orders
• Obtains physician's order 100% of the time prior to initiating therapy.
Patient Assessment
• Able to appropriately assess all patients before and after therapy is delivered 100% of the time.
Routine Therapy
• Sets up all routine therapy modalities according to policy and procedure 100% of the time.
Ventilator Therapy
• Able to set up and monitor all life support equipment according to policy and procedure 100% of the time.
Outpatient Clinic
• Able to set up and perform EKG's on patients in a timely fashion.
POCT
• Able to perform all POCT including controls, proficiencies and documentation. Maintain all State and Joint Commission requirements for licensing and accreditation
Qualifications - Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
- Respiratory Therapy license in the State of Oregon required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
- 2 years of clinical experience, including adult and/or pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) experience preferred
