Key Account Manager – Job Description
Position “Goals & Objectives” Overview:
Wisconsin Pharmacal Company is looking to add a highly motivated, self-starting individual for a key internal sales position. Our Key Account Manager position is a unique opportunity to help us develop placement of well-established brands in a variety of retail outlets and segments. We’re looking to leverage significant existing placement with additional placement and position our organization for sustainable long-term growth.
Responsibility Overview:
Concentrated effort on securing / growing distribution in a wide variety of retail and distributor outlets with a diverse grouping of products:
Preferred experience selling into multiple channels: Mass / Drug / Food / Convenience / Hardware / Home Center/ Sporting Goods / Farm & Ranch
Develop thorough understanding of trade potential by retailer to gain placement of major national brands and enhance existing distribution
Work in conjunction with internal marketing team to develop keen insight into retailer potential and opportunity analysis
Maintain sales broker staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training agency staff.
Assist in establishing sales objectives for managed accounts and tracking progress towards established goals and objectives
Develop thorough understanding of account objectives and overlaying company brand strengths to meet/exceed those expectations with proven products and brands
Work with internal team to measure profitability and viability of existing/new distribution to ensure profitable growth of brands
Assist in product opportunity analysis development to recommend items, positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to ensure long-term growth and viability of distribution
Articulate account-specific marketing opportunities to enhance current brand placement and support new placement
Manage select accounts “direct” and oversee activities of external sales representation where applicable
Assist with liquidation sales
Meet with key accounts to maintain long-term relationships and further develop placement
Coordinate internal efforts between company and retail partners to exceed expectations in all aspects of account management
Report and assist in account review/analysis to ensure long-term profitability
Limited overtime, with occasional customer/tradeshow travel (<20%)
Candidate Attributes / Skill Set:
- Must be detail-oriented and work with a high degree of accuracy with the ability to multitask effectively; 2-4 years related sales experience preferred
- Significant “B2B Selling” experience within any of these channels: Mass / Drug / Food / Convenience / Hardware / Home Center/ Sporting Goods / Farm & Ranch
- Knowledge of Excel / PowerPoint / Word
- Self-Starter with Positive Attitude and Strong Work Ethic
- Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Solution-Based thinking and mindset
Reporting Structure:
- Position reports directly to the Director of Sales
- Position can be on-site or hybrid (Jackson, WI)
