Job Description: The Credit Specialist is responsible for analyzing accounts receivable, addressing credit balances, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of patient accounts. The role involves researching insurance claims, identifying refunds, and maintaining compliance with company and federal guidelines. This position provides an excellent foundation for growth within the healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities: - Analyze claims to determine primary insurance payments and process refunds as necessary.
- Research and resolve credit balances using tools such as explanation of benefits (EOBs) and coordination of benefits guidelines.
- Ensure accurate application of adjustments and payments on patient accounts.
- Process patient refunds and monitor unapplied payments in the system.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure process efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Support process improvement by identifying root causes of discrepancies.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in billing or accounts receivable, preferably in medical or healthcare settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with medical accounts receivable and revenue cycle processes is a plus.
