Legal Secretary

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys (5 or more), managing complex workflows with efficiency and precision.
- Draft, format, and edit legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural rules.
- Handle e-filing in NY state and federal courts, including preparation of pleadings and other essential legal documents.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel logistics.
- Maintain client files, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely task completion.
- Support billing processes, including time entry and preparation of final invoices.
- Collaborate with peers to ensure seamless office operations and provide backup support as needed.
Target Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: 3–12 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, supporting 5 or more attorneys, with at least 3 years in a large Am Law 100 firm.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- Expertise: Strong background in commercial litigation, including e-filing, docketing, and case management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and legal document management systems.
- Career Stability: History of at least 3 years of service in previous roles.
- Key Skills: Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication abilities, with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $85,000–$102,000, based on experience and qualifications.
- Overtime: Non-exempt position with overtime pay at time and a half for hours over 40/week.
- Travel: This role requires travel from a few weeks to possibly a few months (2024 had 2 cases that lasted months). The time away for travel is also paid and included in overtime.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday. 37.5-hour work weeks; 7.5-hour days.
- Hybrid Schedule: Following a 90-day probationary period, employees may work 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.
