Senior Cloud Systems Engineer
Our client, a leading global private equity investor based in Boston, is seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the migration of systems from traditional data centers to a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in cloud systems, with strong experience in cloud migration, infrastructure management, and automation. The role also requires effective communication and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. This role is hybrid and requires 3 days on site per week.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize the performance of both on-premise and cloud-based systems, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
- Install, configure, and manage new systems and applications to meet organizational needs
- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation as required
- Continuously monitor system performance and proactively address any issues to maintain high availability
- Serve as the primary escalation point for the Service Desk and other IT teams, resolving issues and fulfilling service requests in a timely manner
- Design and implement cloud solutions that align with established standards and best practices
- Work closely with internal IT teams, cloud service providers, and system integrators to ensure effective collaboration
- Communicate clearly and effectively with IT teams, business leaders, and end-users both verbally and in writing
- Lead and provide technical expertise during critical incidents, ensuring efficient resolution and recovery
- Assist development teams in building cloud-native applications and related tools, contributing to the overall architecture
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and services, with a strong foundation in cloud-based solutions
- Advanced certification in cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure Solution Architect Expert, is required
- Proven track record of successfully migrating complex environments, including both "Lift and Shift" and the refactoring of in-house applications
- In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies, security best practices, and DevOps methodologies
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), networking, and automation tools
- Familiarity with managing cloud costs and the ability to design and maintain cost-efficient cloud environments
- Experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub, and proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins
- Understanding of ITIL IT Service Management practices, particularly in Change Management processes
- Ability to work flexible hours, including outside of regular business hours when needed
- Experience in the Private Equity or Finance sector is a plus
