Quality Assurance Engineer
Our client, an asset investment firm based in Boston, MA, is seeking a flexible and organized QA Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in testing end-user updates to ensure a high-quality experience for end users. They will also be involved in testing systems within the Corporate Platforms business unit, assisting with reporting and data comparisons. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of QA testing methodologies, experience with complex projects, and the ability to communicate issues and project status to IT and stakeholders. Attention to detail and the ability to solve complex problems are essential in this role. This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days on site per week.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement test strategies, outlining the approach for comprehensive testing at all stages of the project
- Oversee testing activities, ensuring that the solutions meet project goals and operate as expected
- Assess software for functionality, performance, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems, ensuring all requirements are met
- Conduct testing on end-user desktop environments to verify system stability with new desktop updates and configurations
- Take ownership of testing tasks, executing them independently as well as in collaboration with the team to fulfill project goals
- Clearly document and report issues, and update project stakeholders with progress on testing activities
- Lead the validation of end-user systems, ensuring smooth rollout and user stability during system upgrades
- Identify defects early in the testing cycle, logging, and ensuring their resolution in a timely manner
- Champion the end-user experience by ensuring that all solutions meet usability and functionality expectations
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, with a proven track record in creating test plans, executing tests, and delivering detailed test results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling the creation of test cases and the effective reporting of issues to technical teams
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and identify critical defects efficiently
- Proactive problem-solving abilities, able to translate business and technical requirements into clear test strategies
- Innovative mindset with a willingness to experiment with new testing methods and strategies
- Proficiency in Quality Management Software Standards and Processes, including familiarity with Waterfall, Scrum, and Agile development methodologies
- Deep understanding of business systems, IT infrastructure, and security aspects relevant to the testing process
- Experience in creating thorough test documentation and providing actionable reporting on test outcomes
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to query databases and analyze test data
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting languages, including Python (a plus)
- Experience in testing desktop tools, user environments, and information security systems is highly desirable
