We are seeking a dynamic Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Cary, NC . You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to design and execute cutting-edge projects that align with our energy transition portfolio .
This is a hybrid work opportunity , requiring at least two days per week in the office or at local client sites.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor junior and mid-level mechanical engineers to enhance their technical and professional growth.
- Oversee the mechanical engineering team’s performance to deliver high-quality results.
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Collaborate with clients to deliver innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Identify and pursue business opportunities, including preparing technical proposals and developing project execution plans.
Project Oversight & Technical Expertise
- Oversee the design and execution of mechanical engineering projects across various market sectors, including utility systems, energy transition, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance for systems such as steam, hot water, chilled water, cogeneration , and heat recovery systems .
- Participate in utility master planning and climate response planning to support decarbonization goals.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Contribute to the company’s strategy for expanding its energy transition portfolio.
- Collaborate with internal teams on proposal development, resource planning, and project execution.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering design, consulting, or project management experience.
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license (any U.S. state).
- Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams.
- Experience with client engagement, business development, and proposal writing.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Flexibility to travel (up to 50% ) based on project needs.
- Availability to work at least 2 days per week in the Cary office or local client sites.
Preferred:
- Experience in utility plants and distribution systems (e.g., steam, hot water, chilled water).
- Familiarity with decarbonization and climate response planning.
- Knowledge of cogeneration or combined heat and power systems .
- Prior personnel management experience.
- Expertise with heat recovery or heat pump technologies.
