Job Description

PURPOSE: 


Join our team as an HR Director and be at the heart of shaping our workplace culture! In this dynamic role, you will lead key initiatives in employee relations, staffing, compliance, training, performance management, and health and safety. Your expertise will drive employee engagement, foster a positive work environment, and align our people strategy with our business goals.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Partner with plant leadership to understand staffing needs and develop a recruitment strategy for hourly and salaried roles.
  • Lead the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding processes to ensure a steady flow of qualified candidates.
  • Collaborate with external staffing agencies and recruitment partners to fill positions efficiently.
  • Manage workforce planning and scheduling to optimize labor costs while meeting production demands.


Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between management and employees to address workplace concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure positive employee relations.
  • Conduct investigations into employee grievances, complaints, or misconduct and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to boost morale, improve productivity, and retain top talent.
  • Provide coaching and support to supervisors and managers on employee performance and disciplinary matters.


Performance Management

  • Oversee the performance appraisal process and assist in setting performance goals for employees.
  • Implement programs to recognize and reward high performance and address performance issues in a constructive manner.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers on how to conduct effective performance reviews and improve team performance.


Training & Development

  • Assess training needs and develop programs to enhance employees' skills and career development.
  • Implement training initiatives related to safety, compliance, quality, and company policies.
  • Work with plant leadership to identify and address skill gaps to improve overall productivity and employee growth.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Ensure that compensation practices are competitive and in line with company policies.
  • Ensure that Daybrook pay matrix is maintained to ensure pay parity across roles
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, retirement plans, COBRA, and other perks.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends and recommend adjustments to compensation structures as needed to attract and retain talent.


Payroll

  • Ensuring employee timesheets, and profile information are correctly captured and reviewed prior to processing of payroll
  • Ensuring any /all supporting information is maintained and stored, and accessible for audits
  • Ensure any garnishments / court orders are accurately captured and applied.
  • Regularly reviewing of all accrual balances for accuracy


Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Partner with the plant safety team to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, promoting safety programs and conducting safety audits.
  • Track and report on various compliance metrics, including workers' compensation claims, OSHA recordables, and audits.


Reporting & Analytics

  • Maintain and update HR data systems, ensuring accurate records of employee attendance, performance, and other metrics.
  • Provide regular HR reports to management, including turnover rates, recruitment metrics, training effectiveness, and employee engagement data.
  • Monitor and analyze HR trends and make data-driven recommendations to improve plant operations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:


  • Strong Microsoft office skills (excel, word, outlook)
  • Able to relate well to others and use interpersonal skills to achieve desired objectives, recognizing the need to represent both the business and team
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Analytical thinking with attention to detail
  • Strong facilitation, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent assertive communication skills: oral and written
  • Ability/preference to work in a multi-tasking environment


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing Company HCM software (UKG would be advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, including FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act); ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act); FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and other regulations affecting manufacturing environments.


LOCATION:


This role offers the opportunity to work across two dynamic locations, with time shared between New Orleans Head Office and Empire, Louisiana (Empire Plant) based on operational needs.
