Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Location: Arvada, CO (relocation options available)
Schedule: Fully on-site, Mon-Fri, with the option of a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
Salary: $150,000 + $10,000 sign-on bonus.
Employment Type: Full-time, direct placement.
Travel: Light (10–20%, approximately 1 week per year, including occasional international travel).
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join a growing engineering team. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for custom-engineered pumps and compressors used in global energy, chemical, and industrial applications. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of automation systems, technical design, and customer engagement, ensuring the delivery of high-quality systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Automation Systems Development: Design, program, and configure PLC (Rockwell/Siemens) and HMI systems, ensuring system efficiency and functionality.
- Electrical Design: Create and review electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, wiring lists, schematics, and P&IDs (process and instrumentation diagrams).
- Instrumentation Selection: Specify input/output devices such as valves, sensors, and transmitters, ensuring compatibility with system requirements.
- Process Optimization: Perform system specification, troubleshooting, and performance validation for industrial rotating equipment, such as pumps and compressors.
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Develop and execute FAT procedures to ensure system functionality and meet customer expectations.
- Customer Collaboration: Interface with clients to understand specifications, provide updates, and deliver exceptional service.
- Compliance and Standards: Adhere to NEC, IEC, and other international standards, ensuring systems meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation Development: Create detailed control narratives, bills of materials (BOMs), and procedures to support system implementation and future improvements.
- Continuous Improvement: Support standardization of processes, procedures, and software to enhance team efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
- 5–8+ years of professional experience in instrumentation, controls, and electrical engineering.
- Expertise in automation systems, including PLC (Rockwell/Siemens), DCS, and SCADA/HMI.
- Proven experience with MCC circuitry, VFDs, soft starters, and hazardous area classifications.
- Familiarity with pumps, compressors, and rotating machinery.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, Fieldbus).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and drafting tools.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience programming and maintaining Rockwell/Allen Bradley systems.
- Background in developing new processes, procedures, and templates.
- Knowledge of Bently Nevada machinery monitoring systems.
