Job Title : Scoping Engineer
Location : Morristown, NJ (Local candidates within 50 miles preferred)
Travel Requirement : Daily travel to market area cell sites is required. Candidates must have their own reliable vehicle. Mileage expenses reimbursed.
Work Schedule : Onsite at the Morristown office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Job Summary
The Scoping Engineer will be responsible for identifying and defining the technical aspects and deployment scope for telecommunications projects at assigned sites. This role requires a strong understanding of site construction standards, customer requirements, and the ability to assess site feasibility for deployment. Recent experience (within the last 2-3 years) with T-Mobile scoping projects is a critical requirement due to the rapid changes in carrier processes and standards. The Scoping Engineer will document site-specific Scope of Work (SOW), identify necessary work packages, and prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) through site walks, document reviews, and analysis of aerial imagery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and document comprehensive SOWs and BOMs for each site, detailing work types and requirements.
- Review and interpret construction documents, RF design frequency sheets (RFDS), and structural/mount designs for constructability and accuracy.
- Identify and propose site constructability changes to meet T-Mobile’s RF design requirements and project specifications.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customer project teams, contractors, and service providers, to ensure alignment on project scopes, schedules, and deliverables.
- Review supplier quotes for accuracy and approve or recommend revisions as needed.
- Plan and adjust project schedules while coordinating with project managers and service providers to address necessary scope changes.
- Provide technical expertise on construction processes, including rigging and crane requirements.
- Participate in project planning and resolution meetings to resolve scoping or constructability challenges.

- Ability to work with construction drawings, RF design documents, and aerial imagery.
Qualifications & Experience
- T-Mobile scoping experience (mandatory): Must have recent (within 2-3 years) experience working on T-Mobile scoping projects , including reviewing construction documents, RFDS, and site feasibility.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (2-5 years in telecommunications or related fields).
- Strong knowledge of cell site construction, equipment installation, and material requirements.
- Ability to review and interpret construction drawings and scope estimation.
- Understanding of site acquisition and permitting processes.
- Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., OSHA certifications preferred).
Performance Expectations :
- High-output role: Scope 10 sites per week and review construction documents for 4 sites daily (20 per week).
- Ensure alignment with T-Mobile-specific standards to deliver accurate scopes and minimize delays.
