Plant Engineering Manager

The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance functions, engineering, and site facilities within the plant. This role works closely with plant management and employees and serves as a liaison with enterprise-wide functional departments such as Quality Assurance and Compliance, Human Resources, Accounting, Engineering, Purchasing, Research and Development, and Risk Management. Specifically, the Plant Engineering Manager is accountable for the performance of the Maintenance Department, developing engineering plans to support current and future plant needs, and creating systems in areas such as preventative maintenance, spare parts inventories, and work order management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage the department’s budget, ensuring financial goals are met or exceeded.
- Oversee Capital and Expense Projects to ensure they meet scope, budget, and timeline.
- Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance systems to support continuous manufacturing operations.
- Ensure departmental activities comply with or exceed the standards and specifications set by Quality Assurance.
- Coordinate with on-site staff, Management, and NACP Management to review and approve plans for new equipment installation and layout to ensure operational efficiency.
- Regularly engage with personnel, addressing concerns and providing support.
- Drive key performance indicators and actively participate in making recommendations for corrective actions and managing their implementation.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure plant sustainability.
- Manage employee performance through clear expectations, accountability, and fostering a sense of urgency.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues, implement new procedures, and introduce new products or product lines.
- Maintain effective business communication practices to keep key stakeholders informed and equipped to respond appropriately.
- Ensure timely communication of process, equipment, or product changes to affected employees.
- Availability to work off shifts and handle plant issues as necessary, including receiving calls when off-duty.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Follow GMP’s and work in compliance with corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience managing people and/or processes in a manufacturing environment. High-speed manufacturing and food industry experience preferred.

Travel Requirements:
- 15%-25% (1-2 times per quarter)
