Pay Rate: $60K-$75K

Job Description Summary:
As an R&D Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and refining fully cooked meat products. You will assist in product formulation, conduct trials, and ensure that all products meet company standards for quality, taste, and safety. Working closely with the R&D team, you will contribute to innovation while adhering to regulatory requirements and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of new fully cooked meat products, from concept to commercialization.
Prepare and conduct product trials, including batching, cooking, and packaging.
Conduct sensory and quality evaluations to ensure consistency and excellence in taste, texture, and appearance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and marketing, to meet project goals.
Maintain detailed records of formulations, trials, and test results.
Assist in troubleshooting production issues and refining formulations as needed.
Conduct shelf-life studies and analyze product stability over time.
Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and company regulations and standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and ingredient innovations.
Skills / Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in food science, meat science, culinary arts, or a related field preferred.
1-3 years of experience in R&D, food manufacturing, or a similar role (experience in meat or protein products preferred).
Knowledge of food science, processing equipment, and ingredient functionality.
Familiarity with food safety programs such as HACCP, GMP, and USDA/FDA regulations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot formulations and processes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
