Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our team at an industrial semiconductor manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge and hands-on experience in process instrumentation, control systems, and electrical components. This role involves installation, termination, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical instrumentation and control systems essential for plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- PLC and Signal Cabling Terminations:
- Terminate PLC signal cabling at PLC cabinets and field instrumentation (VFDs, electrical equipment, sensors, etc.).
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of cable terminations.
- Instrumentation Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Calibrate, test, and maintain temperature, pressure, flow, and level instruments.
- Diagnose and repair defective components, motors, drives, and electronic devices.
- Navigate and manipulate PLC programs and HMI systems for troubleshooting.
- Documentation and Interpretation:
- Interpret I/O lists, cable schedules, control panel schematics, and PLC diagrams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of changes, repairs, and calibrations.
- Technical Knowledge Application:
- Work with AC and DC drives, speed feedback devices, and temperature control systems.
- Understand and apply PID control loop theory to optimize processes.
- Diagnose Ethernet communications and connections for PLC and HMI systems.
- Process Optimization and Support:
- Monitor and fine-tune control loops to maintain optimal process performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement process improvements.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to plant safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other electrical safety practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year as an Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, or similar high-tech industries preferred.
- Education:
- Associate degree or certification in Instrumentation Technology, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in terminating PLC signal cabling and interpreting technical documentation (I/O lists, schematics, cable schedules).
- Thorough understanding of AC and DC drives, speed feedback devices, and temperature control components.
- Strong knowledge of PID control loops and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Skilled in navigating PLC and HMI systems, including program manipulation and driver setup.
- In-depth understanding of electrical components and electronic devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with high-tech manufacturing environments, including cleanrooms.
- NCCER or ISA certifications (e.g., CCST) are a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in diagnosing motors, drives, and electronic systems.
