Job Description

LHH is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing all activities related to the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and strong vendor relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Invoice Processing:
  • Process and verify a high volume of invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and approvals.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received documentation.
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
  1. Payment Management:
  • Schedule and prepare payment runs, including ACH transfers, wire payments, and checks.
  • Ensure timely payments while maximizing cash flow and adhering to vendor terms.
  • Monitor and manage payment approvals in accordance with company policy.
  1. Expense Reports and Compliance:
  • Audit and process employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Enforce compliance with internal controls and approval hierarchies.
  1. Vendor Relationship Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding payments, invoice statuses, and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships through timely communication and issue resolution.
  1. Reconciliations and Reporting:
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and monthly AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Prepare accounts payable aging reports and assist with accruals for month-end close.
  • Collaborate with the finance team for audits and financial reporting.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes, automate tasks, and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of AP systems and tools.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related role.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle high volumes of work under tight deadlines.
Compensation: $28-$32/hour DOE
