Job Description

We’re seeking a Corporate Commercial Counsel to oversee a wide range of legal matters and provide expert guidance to our client, a global gaming and entertainment company. You’ll support business teams, manage commercial agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive company growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate various agreements, including technology, SaaS, licensing, and partnership contracts.
  • Provide comprehensive legal support to all business units.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
  • Advise on legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Align risk tolerance with business objectives.
  • Establish frameworks to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Advise on key areas such as privacy, data retention, and financial reporting.
  • Manage Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms and streamline processes.
  • Train internal teams on legal tools and practices.
  • Partner with business teams to address legal issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Support strategic legal and business initiatives.
  • Manage and protect the company’s IP portfolio.
  • Provide guidance on IP-related matters and strategy.
  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions.
  • Provide legal support throughout transaction lifecycles.
  • Provide advice on employment matters and litigation as needed.
  • Manage external counsel where required.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree.
  • Membership in good standing with the law society of BC
  • 5+ years of corporate and commercial legal experience, preferably in-house.
  • Strong understanding of the technology, entertainment, or gaming industries.
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
  • Highly collaborative and detail-oriented, with a business-first mindset.
