Managing Director

Testing, Inspection, and Certification services for the energy industry

North of Philadelphia

$190,000 - $210,000 + Bonus, Medical, Dental, 401k, Excellent PTO package

Position Summary

Our client are the North American market leader in engineering and testing services for the energy & grid industries. We are searching for a Managing Director / Laboratory Director to lead their state of the art laboratory testing business North of Philadelphia. This is a senior leadership role - the Managing Director also serves as the legal representative of the organisation in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Performance: Achieve and exceed annual profit and loss targets. Develop and manage annual operating budgets, including OPEX and CAPEX, personnel requirements, and training programs.
  • Customer Focus: Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality service delivery.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards (including ISO/IEC 17025).
    • Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
    • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a skilled workforce.
    • Implement and maintain effective quality control and improvement processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and business objectives.
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare and submit regular reports on operational performance, financial results, and key performance indicators to the Executive Vice President.
  • Collaboration: Actively participate in and contribute to the broader management team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in operational management within a laboratory or technical environment related to the grid / power generation industry
  • Knowledge of the grid / power generation industry
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
