Position Summary
Our client are the North American market leader in engineering and testing services for the energy & grid industries. We are searching for a Managing Director / Laboratory Director to lead their state of the art laboratory testing business North of Philadelphia. This is a senior leadership role - the Managing Director also serves as the legal representative of the organisation in the US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Performance: Achieve and exceed annual profit and loss targets. Develop and manage annual operating budgets, including OPEX and CAPEX, personnel requirements, and training programs.
- Customer Focus: Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality service delivery.
- Operational Excellence:
- Oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards (including ISO/IEC 17025).
- Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop a skilled workforce.
- Implement and maintain effective quality control and improvement processes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and business objectives.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare and submit regular reports on operational performance, financial results, and key performance indicators to the Executive Vice President.
- Collaboration: Actively participate in and contribute to the broader management team.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record in operational management within a laboratory or technical environment related to the grid / power generation industry
- Knowledge of the grid / power generation industry
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
