Robert Half is partnered with our client in their search for their next Controller. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the full-cycle accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to drive process improvements, system implementations, and financial strategy within a project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full-cycle accounting , including general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and financial reporting.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions, cost control, and profitability .
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Support the CFO/Executive Team in strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS .
- Oversee the financial close process , ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Lead the annual audit process , liaising with external auditors and ensuring proper documentation.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, government reporting, and industry-specific financial requirements .
- Implement and oversee project accounting , ensuring accurate tracking of project costs, revenues, and profitability.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to optimize budgeting, job costing, and financial forecasting .
- Analyze project margins, billing cycles, and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting to ensure financial health and efficiency.
- Enhance accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools to drive efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial workflows.
- Support the integration of financial software and automation tools to optimize reporting.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture .
- Provide guidance on best practices, training, and professional development .
- Ensure collaboration across departments to enhance financial operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a Controller or Senior Finance role .
- CPA designation required.
- Experience in engineering, construction, or a project-based industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial reporting .
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, MS Dynamics) and financial reporting tools .
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations .
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
