Director of Disaster Recovery & Business Resiliency
Our client, an asset management firm based in Boston, MA, is seeking a Director of Disaster Recovery & Business Resiliency to join their team. This role will be part of the Global IT Infrastructure organization and will report to the Head of IT Infrastructure & Cloud Services. The Director will also collaborate with IT teams across diverse business units and support firm-wide cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency programs, ensuring the firm’s technology infrastructure remains resilient during crises and disasters. This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days on site per week.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and govern the firm’s Business Continuity Planning program, driving continuous improvements to maintain operational resilience
- Formulate and implement disaster recovery strategies that ensure business operations can resume swiftly after a crisis or disaster
- Manage the development of disaster recovery plans on an annual basis and assess the program’s effectiveness by identifying and addressing risks, governance models, and recovery procedures
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to promote the adoption of resilient architecture designs, particularly for cloud-native and modern applications
- Oversee the monitoring, management, and response to risks to service availability, ensuring effective recovery efforts in line with the firm’s priorities
- Perform Business Impact Analysis to evaluate recovery needs versus existing capabilities, identifying gaps and recommending solutions to address them
- Provide expert guidance to business teams in documenting and remediating risks, issues, and controls to strengthen overall resilience
- Lead After Action Reviews post-incident or exercise, analyzing response effectiveness, and implementing improvements to enhance future preparedness
- Manage the firm’s Emergency Notification System and refine related procedures to ensure readiness during emergencies
- Supervise the IT due diligence process in collaboration with the Investor Relations function, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in disaster recovery, business resiliency, operational risk, crisis management, and business continuity
- Deep understanding of Business Resiliency practices, including setting Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), and crafting Business Impact Analysis documents
- Proven ability to influence and work collaboratively with teams, leaders, and stakeholders across various departments and the enterprise
- Strong communication skills with the capacity to clearly explain continuity and resiliency concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals
- Familiarity with cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP is a plus, as well as any relevant technical certifications

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to navigate complex business challenges
