Job Description

Job Title: Project Financial Analyst

Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid - 2+ days in the office per week)

Duration: 6 months with possible extension



Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Financial Analyst to join our team. This role will support financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for a large IT project portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience in project financial management, data consolidation, and project performance analysis. This position is hybrid, with some in-office presence required in Newark, NJ.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Level Governance & Reporting: Prepare annual project budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Consolidate reporting for IT project portfolios.
  • Analyze cost drivers and compare project performance to budget.
  • Provide financial reporting and risk management related to project delivery.
  • Monitor and analyze project expenditures to ensure proper cost coding.
  • Project Level Governance & Support: Challenge project estimates to ensure they align with financial targets.
  • Assist with project scheduling, accounting (accruals, journal entries, depreciation), and change requests.
  • Support the project team in developing corrective action and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with Property Accounting for project setup and assist in contract issue resolution.
  • Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Project Financial Analyst.
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera (P6), Project Web Access (PWA), or similar tools.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and data evaluation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS Office tools.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management and PMO functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Nice-to-Have: Experience in developing databases for consolidating project data.
  • Previous experience supporting large IT project portfolios.
