About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP - Law, Programming to join their team. The successful candidate will serve as a senior-level in-house legal counsel, providing expert legal support in video programming and content licensing matters. This role is pivotal in negotiating and overseeing complex agreements related to the carriage and distribution of content from various providers, including cable and broadcast networks, film studios, sports leagues, and streaming services. The VP will also be responsible for advising senior executives on a wide range of legal issues, with a focus on copyright and federal regulations governing cable and video services.Applicants must have a J.D. or equivalent degree, with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience, preferably in a top-tier law firm or as an in-house lawyer in television networks distribution or the MVPD industry. The role requires a solid background in copyright law, strong legal reasoning and drafting skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and make decisions under pressure. The VP will be expected to work collaboratively with other legal and business units, manage outside counsel, and provide strategic advice on legal and business implications of programmer contracts. Excellent communication, managerial, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
