About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair of the Department of Medicine to provide strategic leadership and coordination of administrative, clinical, educational, and research activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a large and diverse department, including 15 divisions, 150 faculty physicians, 91 residents, and 98 fellows, with a focus on sub-specialties that require unique clinical, technical, and research expertise. The role involves working closely with the Dean of the School of Medicine and the leadership of the health system to advance the institution's vision and missions, which include optimizing inter-professional service delivery, integrating care, and developing state-of-the-art healthcare systems. The Chair will also lead efforts to educate and support future physicians and teaching faculty, promote innovation in healthcare, and create a work environment that fosters personal and professional development, celebrates diversity, and values the contributions of all members.Candidates for the Chair of Medicine position must be recognized as outstanding leaders with a proven track record in clinical care, teaching, and research. Essential qualifications include an MD or MD/PhD, completion of an ACGME accredited residency in internal medicine, current board certification in the relevant specialty, and eligibility for an unrestricted Louisiana medical license. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality and performance management, program development, faculty recruitment and retention, and institutional collaboration within a premier health system. The role requires a commitment to the compassionate delivery of healthcare and the ability to lead initiatives that impact clinical outcomes and enhance the lives of both patients and staff.
