About the Role
The Company, a respected public research university, is seeking a Professor & Chair to serve as the chief administrative officer of the Entomology department. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering excellence in research, teaching, extension, and service. This includes developing and implementing a compelling vision for the department's future, providing leadership in planning and supervising programs within the land grant university system, managing departmental budgets, and assisting in generating extramural support. The role also involves ensuring excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising, and extension training programs, as well as evaluating, counseling, and promoting the professional development of faculty, staff, and students.The ideal candidate will be expected to maintain strong connections to Extension and the Agricultural Experiment Station, interact extensively with the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and participate in the administrative councils and programs of that College. Additionally, the Chair of Entomology must ensure the recruitment and retention of outstanding faculty, staff, and students, while fostering an inclusive working environment within the department. Effective communication with faculty, staff, students, university administrators, and stakeholders, and seeking and using appropriate input, is also a key aspect of the role.
