Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Freight Brokerage Manager to lead the Chicago operations. This role involves overseeing daily operations, developing strategic initiatives, building strong carrier and customer relationships, and driving profitability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in freight brokerage, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the freight brokerage division, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
- Manage daily operations, including load planning, carrier procurement, and customer service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and customers to secure capacity and drive business growth.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of brokerage staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.
- Monitor market trends and leverage industry insights to identify opportunities and address challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Track and report on operational KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in freight brokerage, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of the freight industry, including carrier networks, pricing strategies, and market trends.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers and shippers.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Results-oriented with a focus on driving profitability and achieving business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other brokerage software.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
