Responsibilities Include:

The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking a qualified Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our team. The Department is hiring faculty members for appointment on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.

  • Participate in team-based anesthesia care and provide direct anesthesia services.
  • Collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective patient outcomes.
  • Actively engage in the academic activities of the department and The Carver College of Medicine.
  • Supervise students, residents, fellows, SRNAs, and non-anesthesia rotators.
  • Provide developmental feedback to those under supervision, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare educational materials and lead/attend academic lectures and professional development events.
  • Demonstrate experience in promoting an inclusive, team-based work environment.
  • Research activities are encouraged but not required for continued employment or promotion.

Requirements:

  • Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must have a medical school degree (or equivalent) and successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology, along with any fellowship(s) required.
  • The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Iowa medical license.
  • Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or equivalent) or in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). On occasion, individuals trained outside of the U.S. who are certified by an equivalent national certification body may be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working effectively in an inclusive environment and be comfortable with team-based anesthesia care.
  • Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology.
  • A commitment to teaching and/or conducting basic or clinical research.
