ACADEMIC SURGICAL PATHOLOGISTS
(Various Sub-specialties: Pulmonary/Thoracic, Breast, GYN, GU, Pediatric, Head and Neck/ENT)
The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is seeking candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor levels for either the tenure track or non-tenure clinical track. Join a collegial group of academic pathologists in an active and expanding surgical pathology service. This role offers the opportunity to specialize in one of several sub-specialties, including pulmonary/thoracic pathology, breast pathology, gynecologic pathology, genitourinary pathology, pediatric pathology, and head and neck/ENT pathology. There are also opportunities to practice more than one specialty.
Position Highlights:
- 34-36 weeks of service commitment per year
- 4-5 weekends of call per year
- Academic position with 80% clinical service time

Required Qualifications Include:
- MD or equivalent degree
- Graduation from an accredited Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology residency program
- Fellowship training or equivalent experience/expertise in general or specialty surgical pathology
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology with eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Iowa
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
- Fellowship training, experience, or interest in any of the following sub-specialties:
- Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology
- Breast Pathology
- Gynecologic Pathology
- Genitourinary Pathology
- Pediatric Pathology
- Head and Neck/ENT Pathology
- Excellent skills in general or subspecialty surgical pathology
- Over 2 years of academic experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to excel in scholarship and teaching
- Evidence of leadership potential
