The departments clinical services have been enhanced with the development of new services such as the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and the Neurobehavioral Specialty Unit (NBSU), a 4-bed intensive care unit for our most complex patients with challenging behaviors. We have a total of 88 inpatient beds across 6 units, including:
- 15-bed Child Psychiatry Unit
- 14-bed Geriatric Unit
- 15-bed Psychotic Disorders Unit
- 25-bed General Psychiatry Unit
- 15-bed Medical Psychiatry Unit
- Neurobehavioral Specialty Unit
In addition, the department has partnered with Emergency Medicine to staff a mental health services team in the emergency room, and in Fall 2025, we will open a new 12-bed section of the ER dedicated to psychiatric patients. Our short-stay CSU will expand in Fall 2024 from 12 to 16 beds, with 5 additional beds for adolescents.
The department also offers vibrant outpatient services, including the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, TMS, ketamine, esketamine) and a research protocol in psychedelic medicine. Our Addictions Recovery Collaborative and specialty clinics, such as Womens Wellness, Neuropsychiatry, and Huntingtons Disease, further expand our care offerings.
Training & Education
Our department is committed to excellence in teaching, with a large number of training programs, including:
- General Psychiatry Residency (12 residents per year)
- Combined Family Medicine/Psychiatry Residency (4 residents per year)
- Combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency (2 residents per year)
We also offer fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. The program provides opportunities to learn from leaders in various psychiatric fields, with a faculty known for high-quality patient care and educational contributions.
