Salary: Dependent on Experience per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria. Conduct routine and complex technical procedures following the department's Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality. Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving. Prepare and evaluate new reagents or controls to ensure resources are up to standard. Create accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care. Perform and report on preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Restock testing bench supplies and manage inventory effectively. Support specimen processing tasks as needed to maintain workflow efficiency. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment. Independently handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team setting. Consistently meet deadlines and handle irregular shifts when required. Minimum Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent educational qualifications fitting CLIA and State regulations. At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, particularly in hematology or related areas. Familiarity with clinical laboratory protocol, testing procedures, and instrumentation. Proficient in using computers and laboratory information systems. Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen to detect and interpret test results accurately. Legal authorization to work in the United States; local candidates preferred. Preferred Qualifications: At least 90 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited institution in the relevant sciences along with a clinical lab training program. Professional certification by ASCP or AMT preferred but not required for the role. Adept at multitasking and can handle the pressures of a high-volume testing environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to deal with complex testing scenarios. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are vital for maintaining high efficiency and accuracy. Skills: Detailed knowledge of hematology testing techniques and procedures. Exceptional skills in operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment. Effective at oral and written communication. Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and independent contribution. Good time management abilities to meet schedules and work on multiple projects.
